Until 1921, it was an unknown place for most of Funchal population but with the construction of an access road in that year it become “a must” stop point for daytrips and tourists.

It offers a privileged view over a natural and humanized landscape that extends from Ponta do Garajau to Cabo Girão, including the mountains of the Central Mountain Massif and the Desertas Islands, which rise on the horizon. The viewpoint has several areas of leisure, green spaces, restaurants and shops with local crafts.
