Point of Interest

Paredão Viewpoint

Contemplate the splendid panoramic view of the Madeiran shoreline and the majestic mountains of the central massif

The Montado do Paredão, located between 1400 and 1450 metres above sea level, has two viewpoints with wide panoramic sights, one faces south and the other faces west. From the southern viewpoint, you can contemplate a wide and extensive landscape that stretches from the mountains to the ocean, while at the western viewpoint you will have at your feet the picturesque village of Curral das Freiras, at the base of a dizzying and impressive ridge with nearly 800 metres high. You will enjoy a superb view of the Central Massif Mountain Range, the Paul da Serra plateau and the Ribeira dos Socorridos Valley. It is a privileged place to comprehend the erosive capacity of the natural elements that shaped the island and a place of excellence to watch a beautiful sunset.

You can enjoy the breath-taking views of these viewpoints on the return of the pedestrian path from Pico Areeiro to Paredão
