Alamos Church

Alamos Church a modern architecture temple marked by simplicity

The Álamos Parish was created on November 24, 1960, by decree of D. David de Sousa, Bishop of Funchal diocese; It became an independent parish church in January 1, 1961, being separated from Santo António parish.

On December 8, 1965, religious services began in a temporary space, which functioned until September 26, 2004, when the Álamos Church was blessed by D. Teodoro de Faria, Bishop of Funchal diocese. The feast in honour of Saint John the Baptist takes place on June 24, if it coincides with a Sunday, or alternatively, on the following Sunday and the feast of the Lord on the first Sunday of July.
